What is Condylox?

Condylox is a medicine which has ingredients able to treat genital warts.

Uses

Condylox is used to treat genital warts. It is used to treat the warts on the outside of genitals. It is also used to treat the skin between the anus and the genitals.
You might be prescribed Condylox for uses other than those listed above. It may also be given along with other medicines for some other disease too. Contact your doctor or pharmacist about the uses of Condylox.

How should I use Condylox?

Condylox should only be used according to the prescribed way. Do not take Condylox for a longer time than the given course. Condylox is not to be used in bigger amounts than the prescribed amount.
Condylox is only for the use on skin. Do not use Condylox in your mouth. Do not use Condylox to treat warts inside the vagina or penis. It should only be used for genital warts on the outside. This gel is also used to treat warts on the skin between the rectum and the genitals.
Only apply the gel on areas prescribed by your doctor.
Apply the gel with the applicator provided or a cotton tip applicator. Do not use this gel on healthy skin. Use a hand mirror if you have problem identifying the wart. Throw away the applicator after using it once. The applicator is not to be used twice.
Wash your hands after using this medicine. Condylox gel is used twice a day for 3 continuous days. The next 4 days of the week do not require any application of the gel. This whole planned week is known as a treatment week. You might be prescribed 3 to 4 weeks by the doctor.
Condylox has to be used as prescribed in order to gain most advantage of the treatment plan. Sexual Intercourse should be avoided during the course.

What happens if I overdose?

Immediate medical attention should be sought if the patient takes an overdose.
An overdose may be reflected by nausea, vomiting, fever and seizures.

What are the possible side effects of Condylox?

If the following side effects are faced by the patient then immediately stop the use of Condylox and get emergency medical help:
  • Allergic reactions like closing of throat, shortness of breath and swelling;
  • Excessive stinging or bleeding of the treated skin.
Minor side effects include mild itching of the skin where Condylox paste has been applied. An unpleasant odor also happens to be one of the side effects of Condylox.
The patient might face side effects other than those listed here. If any unusual symptom is caused by the use of Condylox then contact your doctor immediately.

Condylox Warnings

Always rely on your doctor to inform you of any risks involved with using medicine. For Condylox, you should inform your doctor if you have history of allergic reaction to podofilox and about your allergies to other food substances, chemicals etc. It is not known whether Condylox is harmful for a pregnant woman and the baby, but it is strongly advised that you should not use it but consult your doctor too. Recommended not to use Condylox if you are breastfeeding. .
It is usual for two different medicines to react if used at the same time, so consult your doctor and inform him if you are using any other medicines as well to avoid harmful interaction. Doctors advise the patient to avoid sexual intercourse when Condylox is being used.
It is extremely important that you have been diagnosed for genital warts before you start using this medication.
Condylox Solution is recommended strictly for coetaneous use only thus it should not be applied in or near the eye area. Flush out the cream with large amount of water if Condylox has contact with the eye. Seek immediate doctor's help if such incident occurs.

Proper storage of Condylox

Condylox is to be stored at room temperature. Room temperature: 68 to 77 Degrees F or 20 to 25o C. It is to be kept in a tightly closed container. Keep Condylox away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not place it in bathrooms. Keep Condylox out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Condylox is to be used only for the person it is prescribed for. Do not share your medication.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If the patient misses a dose then take the missed dose as soon as possible. If the scheduled next dose is near then skip the missed dose. Continue the rest of the course as usual. Do not take any other medicine to cover up the missed dose.
