Denavir General Information
Denavir is an antiviral drug that is used to treat cold sores resulting from herpes simplex virus.
Its generic name is Penciclovir.
Denavir Uses
Denavir is a medication cream that is used on sores resulting from infection of herpes simplex virus. It works by preventing the growth of the virus and should be used at a slight hint of redness or sore formation. Thus, it should be applied as soon as signs of lesions or cold sores appear on the skin.
Denavir is recommended only for usage on herpes sore on face and lips. This cream is used to reduce the pain resulting from the outbreak on skin.
How to apply Denavir?
It is strongly advised to wash hands and face before applying Denavir to prevent from further spreading of infection it should be applied every two hours when awake for four continuous days or as prescribed by your doctor. You will get best results if the amount of cream used on the skin remains the same on each application. Apply a slight layer of the Denavir as soon as you receive the first symptoms of the infection that is irritation, itchiness, redness or swelling of an outbreak area.

Denavir Warnings
Be extremely careful not to apply cream in or around the eyes as it can cause serious irritation. Denavir is not the cure for this infection but it is known to heal and reduce the outbreak on lips and face.
It is strongly advised NOT to use for children under the age of 12 as it is a strong medication. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Denavir.
It is not recommended for patients who have weakened immune systems.
It is advised that you inform your doctor of other medicines that you are taking in case they interact with Denavir. It is necessary that you check with your doctor before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.
Denavir Missed dosage
Apply Denavir as soon as you remember that you have missed a dose. If it is near the time of the second dose then you should skip the turn and wait for the next time of dose.
Denavir side effects
Denavir does not commonly have severe side effects but if you have persistent bad taste in mouth, burning, pain, flushing, or itching where you have applied the cream then you should contact your doctor immediately.
Sever side effects of Denavir may include - sever allergic reaction, difficulty in breathing, swelling of mouth, face, lips or tongue, tightness in chest. Seek emergency help from a doctor if this is the case.
Denavir Storage advice
Store Denavir at room temperature away from the reach of children and make sure it does not freeze.
Over dosage
No overdose of Denavir has been reported. In case Denavir has been swallowed there haven't been any severe reactions but you should contact your doctor immediately in caseit happens.
