Diflucan General Information
Its brand name is Diflucan and generic name is Fluconazole Tablets.
It is an azoles antifungal medication used to treat fungal or yeast infections.
Diflucan Uses
Diflucan is an antifungal that treats and percents certain yeast and fungal infection from spreading. Any part of your body, mouth, throat, esophagus, lungs, bladder, genital area, blood may be invaded by fungus. Diflucan mechanism is that it interferes with the fungal membrane and this inhibits its formation and spread.
People who have weakened immune systems due to cancer treatments or AIDS can be infected easily by fungus so doctors use Diflucan for such patients as well to prevent fungal infection
How to take Diflucan
Diflucan is a tablet that is to be taken orally with or without food. If you are using proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, then it is recommended to take the tablet at least two hours before that. It is strongly advised to take full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor for full recovery and do not miss any doses or stop taking the medicine even if you feel better.
Diflucan warnings
Strongly advised not to use this tablet if you are known to be allergic to Diflucan and even if you are allergic to similar drugs like clotrimazole (Lotrimin), econazole (Spectazole), ketoconazole (Nizoral), miconazole (Monistat), sertaconazole (Ertaczo), sulconazole (Exelderm), terconazole (Terazol), tioconazole (Vagistat-1), or voriconazole (Vfend). Do not use Diflucan if you are also taking cisapride (Propulsid) or terfenadine (Seldane).
Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, a heart rhythm disorder, or a history of "Long QT syndrome before taking Diflucan.
Remember that if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment it is important to inform your doctor if. It may harm a nursing baby as it can pass into breast milk.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Diflucan, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Diflucan side effects
The possible side effects of Diflucan are mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or upset stomach; headache; dizziness; an unpleasant taste in your mouth; or skin rash or itching. Some of the severe side effects are nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; or seizure.
Inform your doctor immediately if you receive any of the signs of side effects as listed above.
Diflucan storage advice
Keep these tablets at room temperature in a dry and cool place. Diflucan in liquid form may be kept in a refrigerator, but do not allow it to freeze. Any liquid medicine that is over 2 weeks old should be thrown away.
