Diprolene AF cream is a drug in the form of a cream. It includes Betamethasone and USP.

It is used to treat itching, swelling and redness of the skin.
You might be prescribed Diprolene AF cream for uses other than those listed above. It may also be given along with other medicines for some other disease too. Contact your doctor or pharmacist about the uses of Diprolene AF cream.

How to use Diprolene Cream

Apply Diprolene cream to the affected area in a small amount. Rub it so that a thin layer is formed on top of the affected area. Wash your hands after using the cream.
Do not apply any bandage or dressing in normal cases. You can ask your doctor about this. Do not apply more than the prescribed amount.

Possible side effects of Diprolene Cream

Less serious side effects of Diprolene include:
  • Dry skin;
  • Mild stinging when the cream is applied.
Serious side effects of Diprolene AF rarely take place. If you face any of these side effects then contact your doctor immediately.
  • Rashes;
  • Breathing difficulty;
  • Chest tightness;
  • Swelling of the mouth;
  • Burning of skin;
  • Excessive hair growth; or
  • Muscle weakness.

If overdose is suspected

Contact your nearest poison center or medical centre for help if an over dose occurs.
The symptoms of an overdose include increased urination, muscle weakness and an unusual weight gain.

Proper storage of Diprolene AF cream

Diprolene AF cream is to be stored at room temperature. Room temperature: 68 to 77 Degrees F or 20 to 25o C. It is to be kept in a tightly closed container. Keep Diprolene AF cream away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not place it in bathrooms. Keep Diprolene AF cream out of the reach of children and away from pets.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If the patient misses a dose then take the missed dose as soon as possible. If the scheduled next dose is near then skip the missed dose. Continue the rest of the course as usual. Do not take any other medicine to cover up the missed dose.

Warnings

As soon as the doctor prescribes this medicine discuss if you have had any allergic reactions to corticosteroids, as this medicine is a cortisone and falls into the category of steroids. Also inform your doctor if you are allergic to any chemical or food substances. Use Diprolene exactly as suggested by the doctor or follow the exact directions given on label. Never use this medicine in large amounts.
If you suffer from other medical conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes mellitus, infection at treatment site, tuberculosis or skin conditions then you must immediately inform your doctor in case of severe reaction to this medicine.
Other medicines may interact with Diprolene AF, so tell your doctor the list of medicines that you will be using along side this medication. Inform your health care provider if you are applying any over the counter medicines at the treatment site of skin.
This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby and do not breastfeed a baby if you are using this medicine.
Use cotton or cloth diapers that have a loose fit for babies when using this medicine. The area to b treated should not be covered with bandage or cloth unless the doctor has advised you to do so. Do not let the medicine come near your eyes or face or any place where your skin may form folds.
Since children are more sensitive to the effects of this medicine, be cautious of using this medicine on a child without doctor's permission.
This medicine should not be used for bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infection.
