What is Eurax?
Eurax is a scabicide drug.
Uses
Eurax is used to treat scabies and to reduce itching in certain conditions. The exact way in which Eurax works is not known.
You might be prescribed Eurax for uses other than those listed above. It may also be given along with other medicines for some other disease too. Contact your doctor or pharmacist about the uses of Eurax.
Warnings
Eurax is not supposed to be taken by mouth. Along with the patient any close person or sexual partner should also be treated.
To prevent re infection wash every cloth or accessory with a strong cleanser so that any mites or eggs are cleaned off.
Do not use Eurax if you are allergic to its ingredients. You may ask your doctor or pharmacist about the ingredients of Eurax.
It is not known if Eurax will harm an unborn baby or not. Consult with your doctor and inform him or her if you are pregnant or if you plan to get pregnant during the course. It is not known if Eurax passes into breast milk or not.
How should I use Eurax?
For scabies shake the lotion well before application. Apply a thin layer of the medicine on the patient's skin. This should be applied from the neck down to the patient's feet. Leave the medicine on for 24 hours with out washing it. After that wash the medicine or apply another coat. This should be done as prescribed by the doctor.
For itching massage the affected area until the lotion has been completely absorbed. Repeat if the area does not improve or as prescribed.
This is not to be used in areas such as eyes, nose and mouth. Wash with water and seek medical attention if the cream makes contact with these areas.
Do not apply Eurax on open wounds or cuts. Doing this releases lots of this drug in the body.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of a Eurax overdose (after ingestion) include a burning feeling in the mouth; irritation or inflammation of the mouth, throat, and stomach lining; nausea; vomiting; and abdominal pain.
What are the possible side effects of Eurax?
Serious side effects do not occur mostly. Stop the use of Eurax if you face mild itching of the skin, burning or stinging of the skin. Contact your doctor immediately if you have an unusual itching, redness, swelling or formation of rashes. Also stop the use of Eurax if the above listed symptoms are worsening.
Proper storage of Eurax
Eurax is to be stored at room temperature. Room temperature: 68 to 77 Degrees F or 20 to 25o C. It is to be kept in a tightly closed container. Keep Eurax away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not place it in bathrooms. Keep Eurax out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Eurax is to be used only for the person it is prescribed for. Do not share your medication.
What happens if I miss a dose?
If the patient misses a dose then take the missed dose as soon as possible. If the scheduled next dose is near then skip the missed dose. Continue the rest of the course as usual. Do not take any other medicine to cover up the missed dose.
