Kenalog Spray General Information
It is a Topical corticosteroids and share anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. Kenalog Spray (Triamcinolone Acetonide Topical Aerosol USP) is indicated for relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Its Generic Name is triamcinolone acetonide.
Kenalog Spray Uses
The topical corticosteroids constitute a class of primarily synthetic steroids used as anti-inflammatory and antipruritic agents. The mechanism of anti-inflammatory activity of the topical corticosteroids is unclear. Various laboratory methods are used to compare and predict potencies and/or clinical efficacies of the topical corticosteroids.
How to use Kenalog Spray
Directions for use of the spray can are provided on the label. The preparation may be applied to any area of the body, but when it is sprayed about the face, care should be taken to see that the eyes are covered.
Three or four applications daily of Kenalog Spray (Triamcinolone Acetonide Topical Aerosol) are generally adequate.
Kenalog Spray Warning
Triamcinolone Acetonide Topical Aerosol Spray may reduce the levels of hormones that regulate your body's immune system and energy levels (HPA-axis Suppression).
Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids has produced reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria in some patients.
HPA axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome, and intracranial hypertension have been reported in children receiving topical corticosteroids.
The following local adverse reactions are reported infrequently with topical corticosteroids, but may occur more frequently with the use of occlusive dressings (reactions are listed in an approximate decreasing order of occurrence): burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, and miliaria.
Kenalog Spray Over Dose
In case of an over dose if irritation develops, topical corticosteroids should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.
In the presence of dermatological infections, the use of an appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent should be instituted. If a favorable response does not occur promptly, the corticosteroid should be discontinued until the infection has been adequately controlled.
Kenalog Spray Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat appear.
Proper storage of Kenalog Spray
Kenalog Spray is to be stored at room temperature. Room temperature: 68 to 77 Degrees F or 20 to 25o C. It is to be kept in a tightly closed container. Keep Kenalog Spray away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not place it in bathrooms. Keep Kenalog Spray out of the reach of children and away from pets.

What happens if I miss a dose?
If the patient misses a dose then take the missed dose as soon as possible. If the scheduled next dose is near then skip the missed dose. Continue the rest of the course as usual. Do not take any other medicine to cover up the missed dose.
