Kenalog General Information
Kenalog technically known as Triamcinolone reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, redness, and swelling.
Kenalog uses
Kenalog is used to treat the inflammation caused by host of conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. The dental paste form of Kenalog is used to treat mouth ulcers. Kenalog will not treat a bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infection. It may be used for other purposes not listed.
You might be prescribed Kenalog for uses other than those listed above. It may also be given along with other medicines for some other disease too. Contact your doctor or pharmacist about the uses of Kenalog.
How to use Kenalog?
The medicine shall be used directly as directed on the label, or as it has been prescribed by the doctor. It should not be used in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
The treated skin areas should not be covered with a bandage or other covering unless told by doctor. Covering the skin that is treated with Kenalog can increase the amount of the drug skin absorbs, which may lead to unwanted side effects. Avoid using Kenalog on face, near eyes, or on body areas where there are skin folds or thin skin.
Kenalog Warnings
Patient allergic to Triamcinolone should not use Kenalog. Kenalog should not get in eyes, mouth, and nose, or on lips. If it does get into any of these areas, they should be thoroughly washed with water. It should be avoided on sunburned, windburned, irritated, or broken skin and open wounds.
Kenalog Missed Dose
If a dose is missed of this medicine, it should be taken as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Extra amount should not be used to make up for the missed dose.
Kenalog over Dose
Over does of Kenalog can produce life-threatening symptoms and the doctor should be immediately resorted if used too much or swallowed accidentally.
Kenalog side effects
Serious side-effects include allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat and emergency medical help should be taken and the drug should be stopped immediately. It may also cause less serious side-effects like skin redness, burning, itching, or peeling, thinning of skin, blistering skin, or stretch marks.
Proper storage of Kenalog
Kenalog is to be stored at room temperature. Room temperature: 68 to 77 Degrees F or 20 to 25o C. It is to be kept in a tightly closed container. Keep Kenalog away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not place it in bathrooms. Keep Kenalog out of the reach of children and away from pets.
