It is an antifungal agent used to treat fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails, by killing sensitive fungi.
Its Generic Name is Terbinafine.

Lamisil Oral Uses

Terbinafine is an antifungal antibiotic. Terbinafine oral granules are used to treat a fungal infection of scalp hair follicles in children who are at least 4 years old.

How to take Lamisil Oral

It is taken by mouth with food. It should be taken as prescribed on the label. Lamisil is usually taken for 6 to 12 weeks depending on patients' condition. The tablet should be taken with a full glass of water. The granules should be sprinkled into a spoonful of pudding or mashed potatoes and swallowed without chewing. The mixture should not be saved for later use.

Some medicines and medical conditions interact with Lamisil therefore full information should be given to the doctor. Any restrictions on any kind of food during the course of the treatment shall be followed. To be sure that the medication is not causing harmful effects, regular blood tests and liver tests would be carried.

Lamisil Oral Missed Dose

The missed dose should be taken as soon as the pateint remembers. If it is almost time for next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Lamisil Oral over Dose

Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, or urinating more than usual and emergency medical attention should be sought if these occur.

Lamisil Oral Side Effects

It can cause severe side effect like allergic reactions, joint pain or swelling, swollen glands, patchy skin color, or a butterfly-shaped skin rash over your cheeks and nose; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; changes in your vision; weight loss due to taste changes; scaly, itchy, and flaky skin rash; or fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash. Immediate consultation with doctor should be sought.

Lamisil Oral Storage Advice

The medicine should be stored in a tightly closed container below 25 degrees C, away from heat, sunlight, moisture, kids and pets.
