Microzide Is Used For
Microzide is a thiazide diuretic drug. It helps the kidneys to clean up fluid from the body.
Uses
Microzide is used to treat high blood pressure. It may be used along with other drugs in order to treat conditions other than this.
You might be prescribed Microzide for uses other than those listed above. It may also be given along with other medicines for some other disease too. Contact your doctor or pharmacist about the uses of Microzide.
Warnings
Microzide is not to be used if the patient is allergic to its ingredients. You can consult it with your doctor that which ingredients might not be suitable for you. Do not use Microzide if you are unable to urinate. Along with that if you are currently under dosage of dofetilide or ketanserin do not use Microzide at any state.
Some conditions might obstruct or get hampered by certain conditions. These include:
Pregnancy or a due planned pregnancy;
Any intake of prescription or non prescription drugs including vitamins and herbal medications;
Allergies to medicines, foods or other substances
High or low blood electrolyte levels;
Intake of other high blood pressure treatment drugs.
You can ask your doctor if these conditions apply to you or not.
Some medication also might interact with the functions of Microzide. Before hand inform your doctor if you are taking the following medicines:
Digoxin and Dofetilide. This increases the risk of an irregular heartbeat;
Barbiturates or narcotic pain medicines also increase the side effects of Microzide;
Diazoxide or lithium also increases the chances of Microzide's side effects;
And Diabetes medicine or insulin. Microzide will decrease their efficiency.

How to use Microzide
Microzide should only be used according to the prescribed way. Do not take Microzide for a longer time than the given course. Microzide is not to be used in bigger amounts than the prescribed amount.
Microzide is to be taken by mouth with or without food. Take Microzide with a glass full of water.
Full Glass of water: 8 ounces of water.
Microzide may increase the total urine amount. This also may cause you to urinate more than usual in the first days of use. To prevent your sleep to be disturbed use Microzide before 6 pm.

Possible side effects of Microzide
Side effects occur in all medicines but some people might face minor or no side effects at all. Contact your doctor if you might face the following effects:
- Diarrhea;
- Dizziness;
- Loss of Appetite;
- Lightheadedness;
- Nausea And
- Temporary blurred vision
Your doctor should be immediately informed of these side effects immediately. The patient might face side effects other than those listed here. If any unusual symptom is caused by the use of Microzide then contact your doctor immediately.
If OVERDOSE is suspected
Contact your nearest local poison center or medical centre immediately if the patient uses more than the prescribed dose.
An overdose may be reflected by muscle cramps, severe dizziness and a weak or an irregular heartbeat.
Proper storage of Microzide
Microzide is to be stored at room temperature. Room temperature: 68 to 77 Degrees F or 20 to 25o C. It is to be kept in a tightly closed container. Keep Microzide away from sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not place it in bathrooms. Keep Microzide out of the reach of children and away from pets.

What happens if I miss a dose?
If the patient misses a dose then take the missed dose as soon as possible. If the scheduled next dose is near then skip the missed dose. Continue the rest of the course as usual. Do not take any other medicine to cover up the missed dose.
