Naprosyn General Information
Naprosyn treats pain, inflammation caused by swelling, menstrual cramps, stiffness, bursitis, joint pains, ankylosing spondylitis, arthritis, or gout.
It falls under group of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Naprosyn comes in the form of pills or liquid.
Naprosyn Uses
Naprosyn is used for treatment of arthritis. You can also use it to reduce fever and neck pain, lower back pain, knee pain, or pain caused by menstrual periods.
Naprosyn helps relieve pain within an hour.
How Take Naprosyn
You must take Naprosyn as prescribed by physician. You must swallow the pill - do not chew, break or crush the pill. You must measure the liquid and take the correct dose for the same. Dosage for:
- Arthritis: Twice a day
- Gout: Every 8 hours
- As needed for pain: Once a day or every 6-8 hours
In case you are taking Naprosyn for longer periods, consult your physician to ensure that the same is not causing any harmful effects. You must take Naprosyn with milk or food to avoid stomach upset.
Naprosyn Warnings
Consult your physician in case you have any kind of allergy, bleeding in stomach, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, or high blood pressure.
In case you have any of the above-mentioned problems, you may not be able to take Naprosyn or your dose may need adjustment accordingly. Do not take Naprosyn in the third trimester of pregnancy or later, as it may affect baby's heart.
Moreover, consult your physician if you are pregnant before consuming Naprosyn. In addition, in case you are breast-feeding a baby consult your physician before consuming the same.
Naprosyn Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, never take an extra dose in case you miss one. In case it is the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the dose after the prescribed amount of time.

Common side effects are:
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Dizziness
- Itching
- Heartburn
- Constipation
- Swelling
- Headache
- Rashes
- Vomit
- Black or tarry stool
- Numbness
- Ulcers
- Rapid weight gain
You must visit your physician in case you experience any of the above side effects.
Naprosyn Storage Advice
You must store Naprosyn at room temperature. Avoid moisture and heat, and store in well-closed containers.
Naprosyn Overdose
In case you have taken an overdose of Naprosyn, you may feel drowsiness, heartburn, indigestion, nausea, or vomiting. Visit your physician immediately.
Naprosyn More Information
You must take Naprosyn as prescribed by the physician in order for it to work properly. If you are taking Naprosyn for joint pain, it may take one or two weeks for the medicine to work properly. Take Naprosyn at the same time every day, if you are taking it for arthritis.
Physician can prescribe Naprosyn to children above age of 2 years for treatment of juvenile arthritis symptoms, and for relief from pain and fever to children of age 12 and above.
