Nasacort AQ General Information

Nasacort AQ is a Nasal spray, used for treatment of running nose, sneezing, nasal stuffiness, and itchiness. Physicians prescribe Nasacort AQ for adults, as well as children, as young as six years old. To make this medication effective you may have to take this regularly. It is a steroid.

Nasacort AQ Uses

You can use Nasacort AQ for treating nasal allergy. Nasal allergy includes running nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, itching nose, eyes, ears or throat. Nasacort AQ can be used to cure two types of allergies:

• Perennial allergies
• Seasonal allergies

As it is a spray, its effects are limited to the nose.

How Take Nasacort AQ

Nasacort AQ needs to be inhaled in the nose once a day. You must shake the same well, before use. Blow your nose prior to taking each Nasacort AQ dose. While spraying the medicine you must breathe in gently. You must not spray Nasacort AQ towards the septum, as it increases the risk of bleeding.
Dosage for:

• Adults and children aged 12 and above: Once in a day, two sprays in each nostril
• Children aged between 2 and 11: Once in a day, one spray in each nostril

Further, the dosage may vary depending on age, how one responds to drug, and other medicines, which you are taking.

Nasacort AQ Warnings

You must consult your physician in case you have:

• Not been vaccinated for chicken pox or measles and you did not have these earlier
• Tuberculosis
• Injury inside the nose
• Nasal surgery
• Allergy

You must also let your physician know incase you are pregnant or are breast-feeding.

Nasacort AQ Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Nasacort as soon as you remember, never take extra dose in case you miss a dose. In case it is the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the dose after the prescribed amount of time.

Nasacort AQ Side Effects

Common side effects include:

• Nose bleeding
• Cough
• Sore throat

Serious side effects include:

• Skin problems
• Weight gain
• Asthma problem
• Changes in menstrual period
• Frequent infections
• Allergies

You must visit your physician in case you experience any of the above side effects.

Always store Nasacort AQ at room temperature, away from children and pets.

Nasacort AQ Overdose

Visit your physician immediately in case you have taken overdose. Although short overdose of Nasacort AQ may not be dangerous, but it may cause stomach upset. However, large overdose of Nasacort AQ may have serious side effects as mentioned above.
