Nizoral is primarily used as an anti-fungal agent. It attempts to kill fungal growth at any part of the body.

How Take Nizoral

It is always advised to use Nizoral as prescribed by the doctor. Always complete the entire course of treatment prescribed. In case you stop the intake of the medicine midway, the fungal infection may resurface.
Nizoral is taken by mouth and advisably at the same time every day. Do not consume along with an antacid; maintain a difference of 1 - 2 hours before or after each medicine.

Recommended Dosage

ADULTS: Starting dose: 200mg / day to 400mg / day for 1 week
CHILDREN: As per body weight , only for children above 2 years of age

Nizoral Warnings

Inform your doctor about the following conditions: Pregnancy, Planning pregnancy, breast-feeding, Other medication intake, Any allergies, low stomach acid, Allergy to any ingredient in Nizoral, Fungal meningitis, liver disease, alcohol intake, blood problems, Alcohol abuse.

Nizoral Missed Dose

In the event of missing a dose, immediately take the dose and continue as usual. However, in case you realize the miss near the next scheduled time, do not take the missed dose; take the regular one.
Never take double doses at one go.

Nizoral Side Effects

Commonly known side effects are nausea, stomach pain or upset stomach.
Some severe side effects are Rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, bloating, swelling of facial features, dark urine, decreased sexual ability, Depression, irregular heartbeat, fever, and Chills. Other could be persistent sore throat, loss of appetite, Numbness, tingling of the hands or feet, pale stools, persistent nausea, severe stomach pain, swollen abdomen, vision changes, vomiting, Jaundice, unusual bruising or bleeding, Suicidal thoughts, and fatigue.

Nizoral Storage Advice

Storing conditions are:
Temperatures: 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C)
Avoid heat, moisture, and light
Special Care from: Do not Store in the bathroom, Keep away from Children and pets

Nizoral Overdose

There are no known overdose effects. However, in case you feel that you might have taken more than the usual dose and there is an uneasiness, contact the doctor or healthcare immediately.

Nizoral More Information

Avoid alcohol consumption as this may worsen the side effects associated with Nizoral. It is also advised not to drive or do any unsafe task when under medication.
Nizoral is not effective against any other common bacterial infections like common cold. Nizoral may also make a birth control pill ineffective, so take other precautions to avoid pregnancy.
The doctor may prescribe some tests related to the liver while you are under this medication. This is done primarily to check for possible side effects.
