Norvasc General Information
Norvasc is a prescription drug to treat heart disease like high blood pressure, angina, and coronary artery disease. It aims at dilating blood vessels, and increasing blood flow, thus slowing the heart to reduce the problem.
Norvasc Uses
Norvasc has been primarily licensed for heart related diseases such as High blood pressure (hypertension), coronary artery disease, or Angina.
How Take Norvasc
A prescription to this medicine varies from person to person depending on age, medical condition and other medications in case any. It is available in tablet form and is taken orally once a day, advisably at the same time every day. Always inform your doctor in case of any anomaly.
Norvasc Warnings
Inform your physician in case you have Congestive heart failure, Liver disease, any allergies, Pregnancy or Breastfeeding.
Your chest pain may become worse when you first start taking Norvasc or when your dose is increased. Call your doctor if your chest pain is severe or ongoing.
Norvasc Missed Dose
Always aim at taking the dose as prescribed and try not to miss it. In an event of missing a dose immediately take the missed dose and continue as usual. Never consume any extra dose to make up for the missed dose.
Norvasc Side Effects
Some of the known side effects are Swelling or water retention, heart palpitations, Dizziness, Nausea, Flushing, Abdominal pain, Drowsiness, Joint or muscle pain, Insomnia, numbness, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, pain, Jaundice, Burning, dry mouth, tingly feeling, Constipation, headache, urinating more than usual, mild skin rash, nervousness, drowsiness, or diarrhea.
You must inform physician in case of Chest pain, Depression, Fainting feeling, Rapid weight gain, Allergic reactions on skin, Wheezing, High blood sugar, Difficulty in breathing and swallowing, Severe Swelling or water retention, or Irregular heart rhythm.
Some other reported rare side effects are Shakiness (tremors), Loss of appetite, vomiting,
Ringing in the ears, Back pain, Hot flashes, Vertigo, or Sexual problems.
Norvasc Storage Advice
As with other related medicines, Norvasc also should be stored in airtight containers at room temperatures, away from moisture, heat, pets and Children.
Norvasc Overdose
In case you face overdose symptoms are as follows: warmth, tingly feeling, severe dizziness, fainting, Low Blood Pressure, or Fast heart rate.
Norvasc More Information
Inform your doctor if you have had a history of congestive heart failure or liver disease and are taking any other medications. Do not consume alcohol while taking these medications as that may lower your heart rate and induce some other side effects of this medicine.
Doctors normally advise a treatment regime along with Norvasc, which include a diet, weight control and an exercise program.
In case a High BP treatment is underway, it is advised to continue taking this medicine even if one feels fine
It is possible to dizziness to set in, in case one gets up too fast from a prostrate position. It is advised to get up slowly and first sit in a steady position, stabilize and then stand up.
