Ortho TriCyclen is an easy to use oral contraceptive pill that is used to prevent pregnancy. One pack of medicine contains 28 pills. It has also been proven, that it helps to reduce acne, which tends to develop during the periods.

Ortho TriCyclen helps in pregnancy prevention and causes effective control over menstrual problems like excessive bleedings and pain.
How Take Ortho TriCyclen
Ortho TriCyclen must be taken by mouth with water, advisably at the same time as prescribed by the physician every day.
Start the medication on the first Sunday after your menstrual cycle ends or when the cycle starts.
As soon as you consume one pack, start with the next one.
Ortho TriCyclen Warnings
Smoking while one is under this medication increases the risk of a stroke, High BP and blood clot. Always consult your physician in case there is any such anomaly.
Always use an additional contraceptive option, even if you are under this medication.
Never take this pill in case you are pregnant, breast feeding or smoke cigarettes.
Take an advice from the physician in case of Depression, Migraines, heart attack, Chest pain, blood clots, High blood pressure, Diabetes, Heart problem, High cholesterol, Liver diseases, Cancer, or vaginal bleeding .
Ortho TriCyclen Missed Dose
Missing pills increases the risk of pregnancy. In case use missed:
- One: Take the missed dose OR Take 2 doses at the next scheduled time. AND / OR Use another birth control option e.g. condom, for 7 days after missing a dose.
- Two in a row: Take the two missed dose OR Take 3 doses at the next scheduled time OR Take 2 doses at the next two scheduled times for two consecutive days.
- Three in a row: Throw the packet and start a new packet after 7 days of the last consumption of a pill.
- Any of the Last 7 pills: Throw all missed pills and continue as prescribed.
Ortho TriCyclen Side Effects
Most side effects if noticed happen in the initial few days and stops when the body adjusts to the medicine. Some of them are breakthrough bleeding, spotting, nausea, headaches, dizziness, fainting spells, groin pain, stomach pain, shortness of breath,
Swelling of hands or feet, increase in blood pressure, or vaginal infection.
Ortho TriCyclen Storage Advice
It is advised to store this medicine at room temperatures, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light and out of reach of children.
Ortho TriCyclen Overdose
An overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, or vaginal bleeding. Contact your physician for remedy.

This medication is a primarily used and prescribed as an oral contraceptive for pregnancy prevention, Choose an easy way of remembering to take the pill at the same time everyday e.g. at bedtime or breakfast.
HIV or any other STD cannot be treated or protected from with this medicine.
Always use a back up contraceptive in case you tend to miss pills.
