Paxil CR General Information
Paxil CR is a medication generally prescribed to treat mental disorders like depression, anxiety, panic etc. It works as an antidepressant, and helps to balance the secretion of the brain chemical (serotonin).
Paxil CR Uses
Some of the uses of Paxil CR are discussed above, however in addition to above it is mostly used to treat disorders such as Depression, panic, premenstrual disorders.
How Take Paxil CR
Recommended dosage (mg/day) by physician for:
- Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, or Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder is 12.50 at starting.
- Depression is 25 at starting.
- Dosage can be increased as suggested by physician.
The dosages above are usually taken in the morning and in case an increase is prescribed, it is done in an interval of a week. In case of a premenstrual disorder, it is advised to take the pill every day of the month or during the 2 weeks before the onset of menstruation.
Paxil CR Warnings
It is essential that one should always keep the physician informed about the treatment progress. Paxil CR is not advised in case of the following: Diabetes, Glaucoma, epilepsy, suicide attempts, heart attack, manic depression, Liver disease, Kidney problems, Food / chemical allergies, Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, or Other medications.
Paxil CR Missed Dose
If you do not take your dose as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of Paxil CR.
Paxil CR Side Effects
Side effects are rare occurrences; however, the most common side effects of Paxil CR include the following Coma, Dizziness, Drowsiness, Facial Flushing, Nausea, Sweating, Tremor, Vomiting, Headaches, Drowsiness, Weakness, Dry Mouth, Overactive Reflexes, Nosebleed, Constipation, Loss Of Appetite, Loss Of Coordination, or Fainting.
Paxil CR Storage Advice
It is advised that the Paxil CR tablets be kept in an airtight container, stored at room temperatures away from moisture, heat and children.
Paxil CR Overdose
Not many known occurrences of an overdose have been reported, however the most common symptoms and results of an overdose are as follows.
Brain: Anxiety, dizziness, seizures, Confusion, Fainting , Coma
Behavior: Aggressiveness
Stomach: Nausea and vomiting
Body: Tremors, Liver problems, Muscle pain, muscle stiffness, Kidney failure
Heart: Rapid or slow heart rate, Irregular heart rhythm, High or Low BP, Death
Paxil CR More Information
In case you have suicidal tendencies and thoughts, panic attacks, insomnia, hyperactivity, irritability etc., during the beginning of the doses, consult your doctor for the initial 12 weeks of treatment. Some other general considerations are:

Paxil CR is taken by mouth, once a day.

Swallow a Paxil pill whole, without breaking, crushing, or chewing it.
