Penlac General Information
Penlac is an anti-fungal medicine. You must use this medicine to treat moderate and mild nail fungus. This medicine is effective and safe to use. You must use this medicine only if the base of the nail is free from infection. Treatment might last upto 48 weeks.
Penlac Uses
Penlac is used to treat fungal infection of the toenails or fingernails. You must use this medicine as a part of treatment meant for removal of infected nails by physician on regular basis.
How Take Penlac
You must use this medicine after filing your loose nails. Further, you must apply layer of the medicine on the affected nail, under the affected nail, and skin beneath the nail. Wait for medicine to dry for at least 30 seconds. Apply the medicine over the previous coat daily. Remove the old layer every 7 days. Remove damaged nail before applying fresh medicine coat.
You may need to continue this treatment for six months or more before any improvement is noticed. You must use the medicine as prescribed by physician.
Penlac Warnings
You must inform your physician if you have diabetes, AIDS, taken any medicine in order to control epilepsy, or used a steroid on regular basis. Your physician will let you know whether you require an adjustment in dose during the treatment or not. Keep the Penlac away from eyes, mouth, or nose.
In case you are pregnant or you are breast-feeding baby, do not use this medicine without consulting your physician.
You must close the bottle tightly after drying.
Penlac Missed Dose
You must apply the medicine regularly as prescribed by your physician. In case you miss a dose, apply the same once you remember it. In case it is time for next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the scheduled dose. You must not increase the dose without consulting your physician.
Penlac Side Effects
Common side effects of this medicine are change in nail shape, irritation, redness around nails, and discoloration. In case you experience any unusual effects like severe itching, burning, dryness, redness, or irritation of the skin consult the physician immediately.
Penlac Storage Advice
Penlac must be stored at room temperature. It must be kept away from heat, as the medicine is flammable. You must store the bottle in carton in order to protect the same from light.
Penlac Overdose
Usually an overdose of Penlac is unlikely to occur. Still you must consult your physician immediately in case you feel that you have applied overdose of the medicine.
Penlac More Information
Once you have applied the medicine, do not cover it. You must allow air circulation on areas where you have applied the medicine. You must apply the medicine only on the nails and the areas immediately surrounding the skin.
Never use nail polish or other cosmetic products while treatment is going on.
Apply the medicine for time duration suggested by the physician even if fungal infection may start improving before infection has completely healed.
