Vaniqa General Information
Vaniqa is a cream recommended for the treatment of facial hair. It is recommended only for topical dermatological use and not for ophthalmic, oral or intravaginal use. It contains 13.9% of anhydrous eflornithine hydrochloride as eflornithine hydrochloride monohydrate. Its molecular weight is 236.65. Its other ingredients include mineral oil, glyceryl stearate, ceteareth-20, cetearyl alcohol, methylparaben, dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, water, PEG-100 stearate and stearyl alcohol.
Vaniqa Uses
Vaniqa is used in reducing the undesired facial hair in women. It is only used on the face and the adjacent areas including chin.
How Take Vaniqa
Vaniqa cream is applied in a very thin layer over the affected area of the face and adjacent area including chin. Then it is rubbed thoroughly. The area over which cream has been applied should not be washed for at least four hours. The gap between the two applications should be minimum of eight hours. Other hair removing techniques can also be used along with it. You can also use cosmetics or sunscreen after the cream has dried up.
Vaniqa Warnings
Vaniqa is only an external medicine. If it is used over broken skin or injured skin then transient stinging or burning sensation may take place. If hypersensitivity occurs than the use of vaniqa should be immediately stopped. It is not suitable for children beyond 12 years of age. Pregnant ladies and nursing mothers should take proper advice before starting vaniqa.
Vaniqa Missed Dose
If you forget to apply vaniqa then you can apply it the time it comes to your mind. If it is time for another application then apply it as usual.
Vaniqa Side Effects
The common side effects of vaniqa are burning, stinging, tingling and redness of the skin. If these symptoms continue than medical advice should be sought. Any serious side effect of vaniqa is rare. It includes acne, hair bumps, and serious allergic reaction such as rashes, swelling, itching, severe dizziness and trouble breathing.
Vaniqa Storage Advice
Vaniqa should be stored at 25 degree C (77 degree F). Excursions are permitted to 15 degree C to 30 degree C (59 degree F to 86 degree F). Don't freeze it. The expiry date and lot number is written on the crimp and carton.
Vaniqa Overdose
There is no clear information about overdose of vaniqa. Since you have to apply a very thin layer of vaniqa over the affected area and its penetration is very low, therefore the possibility of overdose is very rare. But if a very high topical dose such as several tubes per day or oral ingestion takes place, then the patient should be monitored carefully and medical help should be sought.
Vaniqa More Information
Vaniqa interferes with an enzyme that is found in hair follicle of the skin which is needed for hair growth. In this way it results in decreased hair growth and improved facial appearance. However it does not permanently cures the unwanted hairs therefore other hair removing techniques should also be used along with it.
