Zyrtec General Information
Zyrtec is a medicine that is used to treat allergies in adults and children. Zyrtec works by reducing the natural chemical histamine which is produced in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical substance in the body that can produce symptoms of allergies like itching, sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.
Zyrtec is also known by the name of cetrizine HCI.
Zyrtec Uses

Zyrtec Missed Dose
If you happen to miss a Zyrtec dose, you should take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. But if it is already the time for your next dose to be taken, you should skip the missed dose and take the scheduled dose next time.
You should never take double dose in an effort to make up the missed dose. This will cause an over dose of the medicine.
Zyrtec Side Effects
Normally Zyrtec is very well tolerated by adults and children; some may develop mild side effects such as:
- Sore throat, coughing,
- Drowsiness and nausea,
- Headache or vomiting, or
- Bleeding from the nose.
You must get emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction such as:
- Difficulty in breathing,
- Swelling of the lips, face or tongue or
- Weakness and tremors.

Zyrtec should be stored at room temperature (20 to 25 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.
Zyrtec Overdose
You should try seeking emergency medical care or attention if at all you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Overdose symptoms may include drowsiness, restlessness or nervous.
